How to Write a New Yorker Cartoon Caption: Child-Prodigy Edition

I'm Allyson, I'm from New Jersey.

At my old school there was like a storytelling class

where they had the captions and we had to like, answer them

and write them.

Mommy posted them on Facebook

and then Bess saw it.

She like Tweeted about it everything

and then it just went viral I guess.

So we're working on trying to get out of here, right?

They're in a fish tank, I would want to get out

if I was in a fish tank and I was trapped.

Are they gonna cook us or the food?

I was thinking like, something to do with hibachi

because at hibachi they cook in front of you.

And then this popped into my head.

This one is very complicated.

Good job son, you caught a man.

Next time catch a fish though.

Well first, why would a man be swimming in the water

with a briefcase and a suit on?

Um, may I ask where are we?

I thought you said this is where you said you needed to go.

Don't judge.

If people ask, we come from planet Toaster.

It's the apocalypse!

Everybody run!

Um, I really can't, I'm about to get squished by water.

How's life?

The same.

Well I guess this is our new home.

You know, I think we're doing this wrong.

Well this is another one of the awkward ones.

(laughs)

I don't think the boss will be too happy.

He's like a teacher's pet,

but not for a teacher, for a boss.

My favorite one was the one in the fish tank.

I used to have a fish.

I don't know, it was just the funniest I think.

I don't overthink it.

I just do what comes to my head

and I don't try to make it funny or else it's not funny.

I think I'm definitely gonna keep doing cartoon captions.

(laughs)
